Dr. Sherin V George started studying about Ouija board in 2004 when he met a patient who had some psychological problems caused by doing Ouija. He started experiments related to the Ouija board and ideo-motor response by conducting more than 350 experimental trials with different groups of subjects. In 2007, he published a thesis titled ‘An exploratory study on the psychological processes behind the working of Ouija Board’ as part of his MPhil course done at Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit Kalady, Kerala.
It was a revolutionary work at that time. People were not aware of the science behind the working of the Ouija board. After the academic study, he spread the study result through his public demonstrations and classes conducted all over South India, especially in Kerala. He challenged people who claimed they get the exact result from Ouija. His television discussion ‘Nammal thammil’ in popular Malayalam channel ‘Asianet’ generated a public awareness about the science behind the Ouija board. He conducted investigations in pendulum divinations and other paranormal claims at the same time.
In another television show ‘Mindwatch’ in the ‘Kairali People’ channel, he challenged the existing study methods of Parapsychology. It opened a new perspective in paranormal studies, especially in Kerala.
From 2008, he investigated the techniques of fortune-tellers including Astrologers, Palmists, Nadee Astrologers, and Spiritual fortune tellers. He submitted this work as his Ph.D. thesis in 2013 titled ‘An Explanatory study on the perceptual processes in Fortune-telling’.
